LINE DANCING.... IT'S A HAPPY THING!

** SUMMER LINE DANCE CLASSES **

Summer Line Dance Classes begin on Wednesday, June 3rd at the Lake Cable Club House on 5725 Fulton Road NW, Canton, Ohio 44718.  Time is 7:00 PM for the Beginner Class and 8:00 PM for the Intermediate Class.  No registration needed.  Cover is $5.00 at the door.  All are welcome.  No dance experience needed.

**  MY "LATEST" CHOREOGRAPHY  **

MAMMA MARIA - **NEW** - (VIDEO) This is an "ultra-beginner" line dance that can be done to a variety of music. I love dancing it to the song "Mamma Maria" by Riccho E Poveri. There are many recordings of "Mamma Maria" in both Italian and English. All versions seem to work.  Fun sing-along music and very easy dance.

MAKIN' IT - **NEW** - (VIDEO) Here's a fun easy intermediate dance that in cooperates some optional arm & hand movements to give the dance some flare.  Done to a happy song from the "Disco Era" called "Makin' It by David Naughton.  For a country alternative try "Sideways' by Dierks Bentley.

SAG, DRAG & FALL - **NEW** - (VIDEO) This is my tribute to the fun "Rockabilly" sound of the 50's. It's an energetic and lively beginner level, 32 count, four wall dance done to "Sag, Drag & Fall" by Sid King & The Five Strings. The music just makes you smile and snap your fingers. Very infectious!

SUMMER IS MAGIC - **NEW** - (VIDEO) This is a high beginner / easy intermediate, 32 count 4 wall dance. I was honored to be asked by award winning choreographer and instructor, John Robinson, to collaborate with him on this dance. This cool little dance is done to "The Summer Is Magic" by Tokyo Soul. Makes you think of summer and the beach!

**  MY CHOREOGRAPHY CATALOG  **

ADAPTABLE - This Easy Intermediate Level Dance was my first piece of choreography and reached the #1 spot on the Kickit web site's "Most Taught" line dance chart.  It also placed first in 2007 at the JG2 Line Dance Marathon Choreographer's Competition. (VIDEO)

BRAZIL - This high energy beginner level line dance has become very popular around the world. It's a 32 count, two wall dance done to "Brazil" by Bellini. The fun music has an up tempo Latin beat. This dance also works well to the slower alternate song, "Let's Go Dancin'" by Kool and the Gang.  (VIDEO)

DUCK SOUP - Currently the number one "Most Taught" line dance on the Kickit Line Dance Chart. This is a Beginner level "Swing" line dance that can be done to many medium tempo songs.  It incorporates some fun steps from the swing era (VIDEO)
Many have asked.... How did I come up with the name "Duck Soup"?  I saw the term "duck soup" in a World War Two magazine.  There was a column dealing with slang phrases used in the war years.  I saw the term, "duck soup" and read that it meant.... "something done easily".  Since my new line dance was an easy "swing" style line dance... I thought the name fit.

FEEL GOOD RUMBA - This is an Easy Intermediate level line dance that can be done in either a smooth and slower tempo or to a fast and fun beat.  You can change the 'feel of the dance"  with the "tempo" of the selected music. (VIDEO)

HAPPY RADIO - This Beginner Level Dance achieved the number one spot on the Kickit web site's "Most Taught" line dance chart.  The dance is choreographed to a fun song from the "Disco Era" called "H. A. P. P. Y. Radio" by Edwin Starr.  The music is happy and UP-BEAT. (VIDEO)

JENNY LEE - This is a true beginner level line dance that goes to a song called  "Jenny Lee" by Jason Allen. It's a great country song that makes you want to dance. This dance also works well to funkier music like "Brick House" by The Commodores.  (VIDEO)

OHIO LINE DANCE INSTRUCTORS MEETING

Next meeting to be announced.

The newly formed Ohio Line Dance Instructor group (OLDI) meet every other month. This group enables teachers to meet with fellow instructors to discuss issues, swap line dances and share some ideas and laughs. This organization also helps to promote line dancing in our area of Ohio by uniting us as instructors.

Meetings are open to all Line Dance Instructors and "wanna-be" instructors. Teachers take turns sharing and teaching line dances. We strive to teach a balance of Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced line dances and attempt to use a mix of country and pop music.

Our next scheduled meeting is TBA. Time: 2:00 PM till 4:30 PM. Meetings are held at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in North Canton, Ohio.

If you would like to be added to the teaching schedule or for information contact,

WOW, my Line Dance, “ADAPTABLE”, won two first place awards at the 2007 JG2 Line Dance Marathon.

On June 3, 2007 at the JG2 Marathon in Raleigh, NC, I entered my choreographed line dance, Adaptable, in the “new” line dance competition and was shocked to win in two categories. Best new NOVICE “COUNTRY” LINE DANCE and best new NOVICE “NON-COUNTRY” LINE DANCE.

I entered the dance in both categories because it is very “adaptable” to many types of music. The songs where “Trust Yourself” by Carlene Carter (country) and “Come On Over” by Christine Aguilera (pop).

Thank you to everyone who has supported me and my dance.
